Israeli who burned a Palestinian baby to death given unbelievable sentence by Jewish Court

WEST BANK (Web Desk) – An Israeli man who burned a Palestinian family to death while they were sleeping in their home has been released from custody ten months after he was detained for the incident by Israeli authorities.

In July 2015, Meir Ettinger, 20, led the arson attack on the Dawabsheh home in the village of Duma located in an illegally occupied part of Palestine.

The attack burned 18-month-old Ali Dawabsha to death instantly. His parents both died of their burns later at a hospital. Their first child, four-year-old Ahmad, had 60% of his body burned and spent months in the hospital. Thankfully, he has survived the attack and still recovering.

Palestinians are subjected to horrific violence at the hands of Israeli settlers who are rarely charged for their crimes by the Israeli state, which denies Palestininians the most basic rights in the occupied Palestinian West Bank.

The two tier system is reminiscent of the Jim Crow Laws that existed in the United States. As former US president Jimmy Carter and South African Prime Minister Nelson Mandela have said, the system amounts to an apartheid racist system, modeled after the white South African regime that oppressed the majority black population.

“As the occupying force, Israel must protect the Palestinians in the West Bank,” states B’Tselam, a human rights organization that documents Israeli crimes.

However, the Israeli authorities neglect to fulfill this responsibility and do not do enough to prevent Israeli civilians from attacking Palestinians, their property and their lands.

“The undeclared policy of the Israeli authorities in response to these attacks is lenient and conciliatory. Perpetrators are rarely tried, and many cases are not investigated at all or are closed with no operative conclusions,” the organization says.
