Thousands including Turkish President attend Muhammad Ali s Janaza in Kentucky

LOUISVILLE (News Desk) – The traditional funeral prayer, Janaza, of renowned boxer Mohammad Ali was held at Kentucky’s Freedom Hall with thousands of Muslims in attendance. Attendees reportedly came from around the world to pay rich tributes to  the three-time world champion.

Mohammad Ali, 74, died last Friday, after a 32-year-long fight against Parkinson disease.

According to Daily Mail, the funeral prayer of the boxing great was attended by some 14,000 Muslims including some globally known faces. Sugar Ray Leonard, Don King, Jessie Jackson, Lennox Lewis, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Ambassador to  United States Jalil Abbas were also among the attendees.

Prominent US Muslim scholar Imam Zaid Shakir led the Janaza prayer which lasted for about an hour.

On the occasion, Ali’s widow and fourth wife Lonnie, daughters Laila and Hana, granddaughter Sydney, second wife Khalilah Camacho-Ali and his third wife Veronica Porche-Ali were also present.

Another interfaith prayer service will also be held on Friday which is expected to be attended by dignitaries of all religions from around the world.
