British PM Theresa May telephones PM Nawaz, assures cooperation in post-Brexit era

LONDON (Web Desk) – British Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday telephoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and assured United Kingdom’s cooperation in the post-Brexit era.

The British Prime Minister said that the United Kingdom strongly supports the democratic system of Pakistan; development of Pakistan and development of democracy are interlinked, Radio Paksiatn reported.

She said that Pakistan and the United Kingdom will work together as bilateral partners. Great Britain is committed to work with Pakistan in security related matters and strengthening democracy.

Theresa May said that she is eagerly waiting for her upcoming visit to Pakistan in coming months in the capacity of the British Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif extended his warmest congratulations to the British Prime Minister on her historic appointment as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

The Prime Minister said that Theresa May’s appointment reflects the faith and the confidence that the people of UK have reposed in her ability to steer the country at this historic time.

Nawaz Sharif expressed his confidence that under her leadership and vision, Britain will become ever stronger and continue playing important role in world affairs.
