ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) summoned Chief of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Mahmood Khan Achakzai on September 1 over his controversial remarks regarding security agencies in National Assembly.

Mehmood Khan Achakzai apparently took aim at the security agencies of the country for failing to maintain law and order in the country. He was speaking on the floor of the house in the aftermath of Quetta carnage.

“I think Quetta incident is a result of failure of our intelligence agencies. Their officers should be fired for not delivering results,” the veteran politician said in National Assembly on August 9.

Following the controversial speech, a petition was filed by  former presidential candidate Wahid Kamal against Mehmood Khan Achakzai, chief of Pakhtunkhawa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) on Monday (Today).

The petitioner took the plea in his petition that Mehmood Achakzai has tried to malign armed forces. No blame can be levied against armed forces under article 19 of the constitution while Achakzai tried to do so in National Assembly. The petitioner further said that earlier Achakzai had declared KP as province of Afghanistan which was against the constitution. Therefore, Mehmood Khan Achakzai be declared disqualified under article 63 of the constitution.

The ECP while hearing the petition summoned Achakzai on September, 01 and adjourned the hearing of the case.
