Security boosted at Taj Mahal after terror alert

AGRA – Security has been tightened at many important places, tourist spots and government installations across India following an Intelligence Bureau alert of a potential threat by terrorists, officials said on Sunday.

Security at India’s world famous monument of love, Taj Mahal has been boosted after receiving Intelligence Bureau (IB) alert of a potential threat by terrorists. Apart from Taj Mahal, other tourist spots across Uttar Pradesh have also bolstered their security, said officials, Indian media reported.

36 extra commandos have been deployed at the Taj Mahal, on the outer periphery, in and around the entry points while the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel who currently guard Taj Mahal have also been alerted of a possible terror attack, said a senior home department official.
