BAKU (Web Desk) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi said Pakistan enjoyed very cordial and historic ties with Azerbaijan and by bolstering the cooperation both countries could benefit from each others potential.
Talking to newsmen on Friday, he said the trade and investment opportunities did not reflect the true potential of the two brotherly countries and these could be further accelerated.
He said that Azerbaijan government had shown keen interest in different fields and sought cooperation in agricultural, pharmaceutical and defence production.
Fatemi was of the opinion that Azerbaijan was working on a grand connectivity plans and could serve as a link between Asia and Europe. He said the land-locked Central Asian Republics (CARs), blessed with natural resources of energy, could serve as gateway to the Europe.
He maintained Pakistan was strengthening its ties with these states as part of the Prime Minister’s vision of a foreign policy driven by economic and investment opportunities.
About Pak-Azerbaijan ties, he further highlighted that both countries showed solidarity on certain issues. Azerbaijan always supported Pakistan on Kashmir issue whereas Pakistan endorsed its stance on Nagorno Karabakh.
