Terrorists network unearthed in Karachi amid wide-spread search operation

KARACHI – A new network of terrorists in Karachi has been unearthed as intelligence agencies nabbed five terrorists from several areas of the city in a widespread search operation.

The crackdown, which was launched on Saturday night, resulted in arrests of suspects and terrorists from areas including Landhi, Korangi and Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

Security sources revealed that the arrested criminals were allegedly in contact with terrorists outside the country to launch subversive activities in Pakistan.

It has also been reported that a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists.

The arrested terrorists were shifted to unidentified locations for further investigation.

According to police sources, the arrested terrorists were deliberating over a plan for killing of police officials and carrying out target killings on sectarian basis.

It is worth mentioning that the metropolis is witnessing a wave of activities against law enforcement agencies and especially police personnel.

Earlier, in November unidentified armed men gunned down DSP Traffic Police Faiz Ali Shigri in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.

According to police sources, another constable Rasheed was also injured in the firing.

Earlier in May last year, two traffic police officials were shot dead in an armed attack in Ayesha Manzil.

The deceased were equipped with bulletproof jackets, but could not survive the attack as the armed men shot them in the head, according to the Karachi Police Media Cell.
