ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has ordered an open court hearing of a case regarding fake stents from February 1, 2017.
A three-member bench headed by CJP, comprising Justice Atta Bandial and Justice Maqbool Baqar will hear the case.
The chief justice has also issued notices to all four provincial Health secretaries, Federal Investigation Agency director general, Drug Regulatory Authority DG.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had taken notice of the fraud in putting stents in heart patients on January 18.
Action had been taken on reports that the Cardiac Ward of Mayo Hospital, Lahore, and other government hospitals of Punjab are either putting stents in heart patients even when not required or charging patients an exorbitant rate up to Rs180,000 for each stent that actually cost a few thousand rupees.
