Court acquits 115 suspects in Joseph Colony carnage case

LAHORE – On Saturday, an anti-terrorism court released 115 suspects of Joseph Colony carnage and torching dozens of houses in a Christian-dominated neighbourhood of Lahore.

The court acquitted the accused persons due to lack of evidence and witnesses.

In 2013, an enraged mob set dozens of houses on fire located in a Christian-dominated area. The mob attacked the houses in Joseph Colony in Badami Bagh police precincts in the provincial capital following allegations of blasphemy against a Christian man. The man had been booked under Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
