ISLAMABAD – Ride Hailing service Uber has rolled out discount promo codes for commuters to move around in city as the status of transport giant hangs in limbo.
According to Uber, a 25% discount can be availed by residents of Lahore and Karachi for the next 10 trips as part of Uber’s ‘ThankYouPakistan’ campaign to appreciate the concerns of its clients who are throwing weight behind the firm in order to keep it operational.
In order to use the promo codes following steps should be followed:
- Launch the Uber app or sign up at uber.com/app
- Go to the Menu section of the app, also accessible on the top left corner of your rider app screen
- Select the ‘Payment’ option
- From the ‘Payment’ screen, slide down to the ‘Promotions’ section and tap ‘Add Promo/Gift Code’
- Enter your promo code “ThankYouPakistan”
- Add, and you’re ready to ride!
But remember, promo code is valid for up to 10 rides in Lahore and Karachi, till midnight 12am, Friday February 3rd and is valid for existing Uber riders and new accounts.
It is relevant to mention that the Punjab government declared three online transportation companies – Careem, Uber and A One as illegal and directed the authorities to launch a ‘crackdown’ on them.
The notification issued by the administration on Monday ordered the relevant authorities to launch a crackdown on the cab aggregator companies that were running illegally in Lahore.
However, On Tuesday Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif ordered immediate resumption of ride-hailing services Uber while giving a 15 days deadline for registration of vehicles.
