NAB allowed to record statements of Panamagate JIT s members

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court has allowed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to record statements of the Panama Papers case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) members to prepare references against Sharif family, Geo News reported.

The NAB Islamabad had requested the apex court to grant permission in this regard last week.

Following the request, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, who has been appointed as a supervisory judge for NAB references by the Supreme Court, approved the request.

Earlier, the NAB officials had approached the JIT head Wajid Zia who refused to give statements citing the investigative team has been dissolved after accomplishing its task.

It is important to mention that NAB Lahore had summoned members of Sharif family to appear before the investigators to join the investigation regarding London flats and Al-Azizia Steel Mills, but they did not appear stating they would not appear until review petitions in apex court is settled.
