MULTAN – The Federal Investigation Agency has arrested a man for allegedly creating a fake Facebook account in the name of a girl, local media reported.
According to sources, Waqas Haider son of Ayaz Haider, a resident of Multan, were allegedly operating a fake account in the victim’s name and used to upload her private pictures on it.
The suspect was also allegedly involved in harassing the girl and her family, and sending threatening messages to them.
Upset at the situation, the victim’s family lodged a complaint with the FIA under the Cyber Crime Act. The law enforcement agency taking action traced the culprit and took him into custody.
In May, a man had been awarded first-ever sentence under cyber crime act for filming an objectionable video of a woman through a secret camera and sharing it on social media.
The convict, Azhar Safdar, who was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), was awarded one and half year imprisonment with a fine of Rs 200,000.
