KARACHI – Undercover agents from Sindh Police on Monday busted a gang operating on social media to sell their stuff to youth in Pakistan’s most populous city.
The group, which consists of eight members, was active on social networking giant Facebook to approach citizens especially women and sell them narcotics, Darakshan SHO Aurangzeb Khattak told the media.
According to Khattak, the police team contacted the narco-group after being tipped by a an informant. It soon turned out to be ‘sweet deal’ for the cops as the drug-dealers agreed and called the customers-in-uniform to a ‘safe’ location for delivery.
The drug-pushers were nabbed soon as they showed up at near a market in posh locality of Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VI.
They are identified as Ashfaq, Tabbasum, Ahsan and Taha. A large quantity of narcotics including hash and crystal meth – ‘exclusive stuff’ for university students across the country – were recovered from their possession.
Police said a search has been initiated to arrest rest of the gang members, who are believed to be involved in sale of cocaine and ecstasy pills online.
Investigation is ongoing.
