PTI party structure dissolved, interim setup announced

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday dissolved party organization and announced an interim setup to hold intra-party elections following the recommendations of Justice (retired) Wajih-ud-din Ahmad commission that investigated the irregularities in party elections conducted in 2012.

PTI chief, while addressing a press conference in Islamabad, said that a political committee has been constituted to conduct the party elections as soon as possible. “None of the member of interim setup will be allowed to contest the intra-party polls,” he added.

Imran further told the reporters that all party’s organization has been dissolved including elected office barriers and former Punjab governor Chaudhry Sarwar will head the interim organization in Punjab province whereas Dr Arif Alvi has been appointed to hold the office in Sindh province. Humaiyon Jogezai will function as party organizer in Balochistan province and Ayub Yousuf will take care of party organization in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, he said.

A caretaker setup will also be announced for party’s central organization of the party, he announced.

Imran Khan, while answering a question, said that previously we didn’t have voter rolls of our party and we allowed mobile phone registrations which resulted in irregularities. I hope no question will be raised at upcoming party polls, he said.
