Army officer among 12 booked for assaulting QAU s security guard while drunk

ISLAMABAD – Police have registered an FIR against an army officer and 11 students for allegedly thrashing a security guard while forcing their way into Quaid-i-Azam University drunk and armed last month.

The application for registration of the case was submitted by the administration of the varsity on October 8 to Secretariat police against currently enrolled students and the army officer.

On September 29 when the incident happened, the police arrested the army officer, later identified at Captain Waqas in the FIR, and recovered a pistol from his possession. The police handed over him to the Military police along with his weapon as per the law.

According to the FIR, a group of students assaulted the security guards after they had smashed a speeding car into a gate of the university.

In response the victim security guard contacted the security control room seeking help, however, he was rescued by people of surrounding area.

Express Tribune quoted FIR as saying, “These students who drinked (sic) and have arms in their hands. The misbehaved with the university security, showed in their drunk posture. These students ran after arrival of police.”
