DUBAI – Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has foiled an attempt of bookies for a spot-fixing during the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka, local media reported.
A member of international fixing racket approached Ahmad in guise of a fan when the skipper was shopping with his family in a mall in Dubai and extended an offer for spot-fixing.
Sarfraz refused the offer and immediately informed the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) regarding the mater.
Earlier, it was emerged on media that bookies have contacted a key person of the Pakistani team, but the cricketer had rejected it.
Now, media reports suggest that the important player was Sarfraz Ahmad, who had turned down the offer.
However, the PCB has not made any official statement in this regard.
Following the incident, the board has tightened the security of players and directed them to avoid irrelevant people while at public places, it is learnt.
