ISLAMABAD – The military spokesman has condemned the attack on The News’ reporter, Ahmad Noorani, assuring his institution’s full support in bringing the criminals to the task.
DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor says in a tweet, “Attack on Ahmed Noorani condemned. A malicious attempt to cause unrest. Full support for efforts to catch culprits & bring them to justice”.

According to Geo New, a representative of the ISPR visited Noorani, who is admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment after being attacked, and presented a bouquet.
Major Ghafoor has also extended good wishes for the injured reporter and prayed for his speedy recovery.
Noorani’s condition is steadily improving, the journalist’s brother told Geo News on Saturday.
Ahmad Noorani, linked to ‘The News’ group was attacked by six men on Friday when he was heading to Islamabad from Rawalpindi.
A total of six unidentified men got down from their motorcycles and tortured Noorani and his driver with iron rods after taking out the keys from the ignition switch.
A case regarding the incident has been registered by the police.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has formed a committee comprising of Chief Commissioner and Inspector General Police Islamabad to investigate the incident of attack on the journalist and sought report in three days.
Noble Peace Laureate Malala Yousafzai on Saturday also condemned the attack on the reporter and said that she is deeply hurt by the attack on Noorani.
“Ahmed Noorani’s struggle is for Pakistan’s cause and we all stand united with him in this struggle,” Malala said. “I pray that he [Norani] gets well soon,” Geo News quoted Yousafzai.
The social activists also said that she will came back to Pakistan some day and continue her aim to ‘spread the light of education.’
