Two men sentenced for selling crocodile meat in south Punjab

MULTAN – A lower court has awarded sentence and fined to two men involved in selling crocodile meat illegally in Kabirwala, area in southern Punjab.

As per the reports, a team of wildlife department caught two men identified as Muhammad Akram and Mazhar during a raid Sarai Sidhu area, days after the officials arrested two persons for selling tortoise meat in Khanewal.

The wildlife department handed over the suspect to the police and a case was registered against them.

On Tuesday, the police produced both accused, hailing from Shujabad, before the court, where the judge imposed a fine of Rs10,000 each and gave fixed time punishment.

They supplied the meat to local hotels for consumption of Chinese nationals.

On October 23, the wildlife department had arrested two people following charges of selling tortoise meat and illegal hunting in Khanewal.

Officials told media that the accused were caught red-handed during a raid in the area of Sarai Sidhoo when they were hunting tortoise, adding that 50 kilogrammes of tortoise meat have also been confiscated during the action.
