ISLAMABAD – The Charmain of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal vowed to eliminate menace of corruption from the country claiming that there was a close nexus between terrorism and corruption.
In an interview on Saturday, the graft-buster chief claimed that Pakistan would become stronger by stamping out corruption through inter-provincial coordination adding that the illegal money earned through corruption was used in terrorist activities.
Revealing the link, the official called expressed that the menace of corruption should be rooted out from the country to make the country stronger.
‘I would take all the provinces into confidence on the accountability process as the whole country came under the scope of the NAB’ he said.
Iqbal continued that it was encouraging that campaign against corruption was moving forward in the country while the awareness about corruption was being initiated in other countries including Saudi Arab, The News reported.
The head of accountability watchdog endorsed the decree of the Saudi Ulema Council in which they declared that the fight against corruption was same like fighting against terrorism.
Justice (R) Javed Iqbal asserted that the principle of ‘Accountability for All’ would be strictly implemented and whosoever found involved in corruption would face accountability.
‘NAB is not meant for victimisation and we will ensure to restore its prestige,’ he noted.
The official called upon the need for transparency, gathering solid evidence and complete inquiries and investigations in a bid to help the courts punish the culprits.
‘The proper prosecution of cases would increase reputation of the NAB,’ he added.
Justice (R) Javed Iqbal said that he would hear personally listen to people’s complaints every last Thursday of the month from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at NAB headquarters Islamabad in presence of senior NAB officials.
