PPP unveils official logo ahead of Golden Jubilee

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has unveiled the party’s official logo to commemorate the golden jubilee of its Foundation Day on November 30, 2017.

Arrangements are underway for a party rally to be held in Islamabad to mark PPP’s 50th anniversary.

Since its formation in 1967 by former Prime Minister and popular leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the PPP has been voted into power on five separate occasions (1970, 1977, 1988, 1993, 2008). It dominated the country’s political sphere during the 1970s, however, suffered a temporary decline during the military dictatorship of Zia-ul-Haq who dismissed the Bhutto-led government but was also perceived to be involved in the controversial decision against the party leader, resulting in Bhutto’s hanging.

Following Bhutto’s demise, the party was led by his wife late Nusrat Bhutto.

Later, his daughter late Benazir Bhutto took the reins of the party affairs until her tragic assassination at Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh on Dec 27, 2007.

The party is now being led by former president Asif Ali Zardari and his son, Bilawal (Bhutto) Zardari.
