NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in an ambush with separatists in Manipur’s Chandel district on Thursday.
Twelve others were injured in the attack, which is suspected to have been carried out by an unidentified militant group, police said.
The 6 Dogra Convoy of Indian army, which was headed to Imphal from Motul, was ambushed around 8.30 in the morning, the NDTV reported.
Security agencies suspect Naga group NSCN(K) or the United National Liberation Front of Manipur (UNLF) to be behind the attack.
Chandel saw a shutdown yesterday over the killing of a woman allegedly by the troops of Assam rifles.
