Pakistan beat West Indies by 82 runs, clinch T20I series

KARACHI – A 119-run second-wicket stand between Babar Azam (97*) and Hussain Talat (63) helped Pakistan set a record 206-run target for the out-of-sorts West Indies, who mustered up just 123 runs and lost the second T20I at National Stadium Karachi by 82 runs.

With that defeat, Pakistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, rendering Tuesday’s final match a dead rubber.

The hosts had handed their Caribbean guests a welcome to forget in the opening T20I on Sunday, defeating them by a massive 143 runs.

The Sarfraz-led squad won the toss and batted first in the Monday’s match.

The match started at 7:30 pm.

Pakistan team remain unchanged. West Indies have been dealt another blow, with their bowler Veerasammy Permaul ruled out of the remaining games after suffering an ankle injury during the opening match.

In the first T20I on Sunday, Pakistan thrashed the West Indies by 143 runs to record the joint-highest score in the shortest format of the game, with the previous best also being 203-5 against Bangladesh in 2008, also in Karachi.

West Indies is the first international team to visit Karachi since the attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009.
