FAISALABAD – Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif took a strong notice of the alleged torture of woman over a property issue in Faisalabad and ordered police to arrest the culprits at the earliest.
According to media reports, CM Punjab has sought an inquiry report from officials within 48 hours.
Earlier, the Vice-chairman of the city council had tortured the woman and damaged their house over a dispute in Railways Colony on April 28th.
Police arrived at the spot and dispersed the crowd but the head of the affected family lodged a complaint in the police station against VC Irfan Ashraf and 32 other individuals.
A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing Irfan – who belongs to ruling Pakistan Muslim league Nawaz – kicking the woman in the face, giving credence to the claims of affected family.
Soon after the incident was quoted on mainstream media, police arrested 27 suspects.
Apart from social media users, a lawmaker of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Hina Pervez Butt, also condemned the incident, asking for a stern action against Vice Chairman in question.
