LAHORE – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has demanded an action over the alleged corruption of former chief justice, Iftikhar Chaudhary.
PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry addressed a press conference on Monday and observed that the family of the former chief justice was involved in fraudulent activities regarding the bogus housing societies and should be probed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Chaudhry also questioned how the former top judge owned so many properties whereas he claimed that did not take any salary during his tenure as chief justice.
Fawad expressed that the party does not accept the caretaker Punjab government’s recent postings and transfers of the “bureaucracy along the GT Road”, saying the district police officers and deputy commissioners posted were sympathetic to the former ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
The mouthpiece of PTI also threatened to move Election Commission of Pakistan if recent transfers were not reviewed.
He also decried the recent reshuffle in bureaucratic machinery of Sindh and expressed that Pakistan Peoples Party supremo Asif Ali Zardari’s brother, Fazlullah Pechuho, was still serving in Sindh as a secretary whereas he should have been posted out.
Talking about PML-N leaders, Chaudhry said every day new properties of the Sharif family are being unearthed even though they said they do not own anything.
Chaudhry also stated that Imran and other members of PTI were praying for Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing medical treatment in London.
The PTI leader also called for the registration of a case against former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for allegedly helping former finance minister Ishaq Dar, flee the country in his plane.
The former chief justice’s political party, Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party, had challenged the nomination papers of several PTI candidates, including party chief Imran Khan.

However, the tribunal has paved the way for Imran Khan, setting aside the charges levelled by rivals in the Sita White scandal.
Imran Khan can contest the elections from five seats of the National Assembly – from Bannu, Mianwali, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi.
