More rain likely in next 48 hours amid risk of flash flooding

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more monsoon showers across the country during next 24 to 48 hours as heavy rains and landslides played havoc in Pakistan’s northeast, local media reported Friday.

Flash-floods caused by torrential rains in upper part of the country have killed dozens of people in Chitral, Skardu, Balochistan and Azad Kashmir, sweeping away dozens of houses and bridges in the remote areas.

The monsoon downpour, that is continuing in Punjab and northwestern upper parts since last week, has swelled Indus and Jhelum rivers and heightened flood threat in Sindh and Punjab where a large number of villages are already inundated.
