ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Chief of the army staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to discuss the matters related to Afghan peace process a day after the US national security adviser Susan Rice left Islamabad after a two-day tour.
Both agreed that Pakistan will fully back the ongoing peace process in Afghanistan for the sake of stability in region.
The Rangers-led Karachi operation also came under discussion during the meeting, according to spokesperson of Prime Minister’s office.
The US national security adviser Susan Rice met the Pakistani civilian and military leadership and reportedly pushed Pakistan to take steps to curb recent attacks in Afghanistan alleged to have been conducted from Pakistani territory.
