LHC to hear contempt case against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi today

RAWALPINDI – The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench accepted on Monday the application in contempt of court petition against former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Talking to APP, Farooq Awan a counsel of a citizen Riaz Anjum said that he has submitted the relevant material including media interview and newspaper clipping in the court of LHC Judge Sadaqat Ali
Khan of the derogatory remarks of the former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan on electronic media against an Appellate Election Tribunal (AET) of the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench Judge Ibad U Rehman Lodhi.

He said that LHC Judge accepted the application while making it to the part of the filed petition.

Earlier, on June 29, LHC Justice Tariq Abbasi asked the petitioner to provide documentary evidences including media interview and newspaper clips on July 2 for preceding the case.

A citizen Riaz Anjum has filed a petition against former Prime Minister on last Thursday, accusing him of committing contempt of court by using derogatory language on electronic media against an Appellate Election Tribunal (AET) of the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench Judge Ibad U Rehman Lodhi.
The LHC bench will hear the case on July 3.–APP
