SC rejects representatives proposed by SECP, SBP for Panama JIT

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected the names of representatives put forward by Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and State bank of Pakistan for the Joint Investigation Team on Wednesday.

The apex court also summoned the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan and chairman of the SECP to court on Friday and remarked that the three-member bench would decide the officials to be included in six-member JIT.

In addition the Supreme Court also sought list of officials of grade 18 and above serving in both the departments in a bid to constitute the JIT tasked to probe money trail of Sharif family.

During today’s hearing, Justice Aijaz Afzal remarked that the bench desired to include honest and competent officials in the JIT for transparent and unbiased investigations.

On the other hand, Justice Azmat Saeed observed that the verdict passed by the apex court should be implemented fully.

The case has been adjourned till Friday and both the departments would be submitting the list of grade 18 officials and above on the same day.
