BELGRADE (Web Desk) – Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has conveyed condolences to Mascow for the death of Russian pilot in last week’s warplane downing on Syrian border.

According to Turkish media, the first ever top level meeting between Turkey and Russia since the downing of Russian plane took place on Thursday in Belgrade.

Following the meeting, media reports have quoted Mevlut Cavusoglu saying as “we have expressed deep sadness and condolences to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for death of their pilot.”

The Turkish minister further expected that Moscow will continue holding such meetings to disperse the tense situation.

He however added that nobody should consider this meeting breakthrough between Russia and Turkey.

Russian media also reported Sergei Lavrov saying that we have not heard any thing new from Turkey in the meeting.
