ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday banned the media not to air the election results on TV before 7 pm on July 25. The decision made in meeting between Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority Salem Baig and chief election commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza on Thursday in Islamabad. The Pemra chairman assured the election body of its full cooperation. He also briefed Justice Raza and the ECP secretary on the media’s code of conduct. According to secretary election commission, the ban imposed as per the new code of conduct which recently came into effect. “Election Commission will set up exclusive media cell on the day of polling to provide immediate and rapid information to media,” secretary mentioned. People will be able to cast their vote on July 25 from 8 am to 6 pm.
