Islamabad – Election Commission of Pakistan takes notice of MML’s political activities in Peshawar on Thursday. MML was launched on 7th August, however the Interior Ministry asked ECP to ban the political party due to its ties with Jamat-ud-Dawa, a banned militant outfit.
ECP took notice of MML’s office inaugural in Peshawar and is investigating the matter. After the investigations, a report will be presented to the commission and further action will be taken by ECP.
MML, despite not getting clearance by Interior Ministry, continued with the political activities and inaugurated its office in Peshawar. During the inauguration ceremony, Party Chief Saifullah Khalid announced the party’s support of Liaqat Ali Khan, an independent candidate of NA-4.

During by-election of NA-120, MML backed Sheikh Yaqoob, an independent candidate against PML(N)’s Kalsoom Nawaz, PTI’s Yasmin Rashid and PPP’s Faisal Mir. Sheikh Yaqoob used Hafiz Saeed, Chairman Jamat-ud-Dawa’s pictures on his banners. ECP took notice and issued notice to Sheikh Yaqoob. A hearing will take place on 11th October to look into the matter.

Milli Muslim League is presided by Saifullah Khalid, son-in-law of Hafiz Saeed, who has a bounty of $10 million on his head. The political participation of militant group was described as Pakistan Army’s proposed plan to mainstream the militant groups by defense analyst Lt. General Amjad Shoaib.
On the other hand, another yet to be registered and under observation of Interior Ministry organization, TLP has opened its office in Masho Khel village and has announced it’s support for Muhammad Shafiq Amini, an independent candidate.
