Social media, internet services disrupted in Karachi amid PTI Protests

KARACHI – Pakistanis in the country’s largest city Karachi are facing internet and social media disruption amid deteriorating law and order situation in the capital city.

Internet users in Port City reported partial service disruptions from midnight. The cause of these outages remains unclear, and PTA or provincial authorities have not shared any update about the matter.

Mobile and internet services have been suspended in twin cities due to ongoing protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Clashes erupted between PTI supporters and police as the party attempted to hold a demonstration at D-Chowk.

Several areas of Lahore, and other cities were also sealed off to prevent PTI workers to hit streets. In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, there are reports of confrontations between police and PTI members that results in shelling and tear gas while protesters retaliated by throwing stones, leading to injuries on both sides.

The situation remains tense, with both internet issues in Karachi and the protests in the capital drawing significant attention.
