BALI – An imam (prayer leader) in Indonesia earned praise on social media for his unwavering faith as a footage of him reciting evening prayers went viral despite massive tremors.
The cleric was reciting the prayer in Bali when the 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck, however, he did not leave the place and kept reciting the verses from the Holy Quran, with the worshippers fleeing the place in haste.

The video, recorded on a smartphone, shows the imam supporting himself against the wall as the prayer place shakes violently.
The tremors left 98 people dead in the popular tourist island of Lombok.
Muhammad Rum, the head of the local disaster agency, said most of the deaths were caused by falling debris.

The earthquake came a week after a magnitude-6.4 quake killed at least 14, injured more than 160 and damaged hundreds of buildings.
Authorities briefly issued a tsunami warning, which was later canceled.
