PESHAWAR – A court in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa capital Monday acquitted senior civil judge Muhammad Jamshed Kundi in a case related to raping a woman at his official residence in Lower Dir.
The court issued the ruling after an investigation team submitted its report, terming the allegations made by the alleged victim baseless.
The investigators found that the woman also had a criminal record as eight FIRs are registered against her in Punjab. They also highlighted that the woman had told her wrong name to the police as her real name is Uzma Shehzadi.
According to the medical report, the woman had not been raped by the judge.
In today’s hearing, the court has granted bail to judge Jamshed Kundi.
Last month, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) suspended him following his arrest by police over the complaint of the woman.
The complainant claimed that she had given gold ornaments worth Rs1.5 million to the judge after he assured her of getting her sister a job.
She said that Kundi called her in the morning on November 25, 2021, and said that he was unable to get her sister a job. She said that Kundi asked her to come to his official residence in the Balambat area to get her money back.
When she went there, the complainant said, the judge first served her tea and then asked for sexual favours. She said she refused to do so, but Kundi did not budge and assaulted her sexually.
