UPDATE: PM Nawaz attends ceremony at Maj Aziz Bhatti Shaheed monument

LAHORE (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Sunday visited the martyrdom memorial of Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed who sacrificed his life while defending Pakistani outpost on the strategic
BRB Canal.

Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed was honored with Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military award for gallantry, he showed till his martyrdom while defending Pakistan in 1965 war against India.

The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, offered Fateha at the memorial and laid wreath there.

Former Governor Punjab Khalid Maqbool also attended the ceremony besides army officers and notables from the area.

The national anthem was played and one-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister also interacted with the family members of Aziz Bhatti Shaheed and locals from the area.

UPDATE: Furthermore, the premier also visited the residence of former Punjab Home Minister late Col
(retired) Shuja Khanzada and expressed his condolences with the bereaved family and offered Fateha for the departed soul.

He paid tribute to the bravery and valiance of Shuja Khanzada Shaheed. He reiterated the resolve to continue with full zeal the mission of eliminating terrorism for which the nation had rendered
numerous sacrifices.
Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique accompanied the Prime Minister.
