Two brothers shot dead by police in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Police on late Saturday night shot two youngsters dead for not stopping at a police check point on College Road in Satellite Town area of Rawalpindi. Both individuals, Shakeel and Zeeshan have been identified as brothers.

According to the details, police signaled the youngsters riding on a motorcycle to stop at the checkpoint. On defying police orders, the officers fired at them. 24 year old Shakeel died on the spot while 20 year old Zeeshan was shifted to the Holy family hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries.

Family sources said Zeshan and Shakeel were returning home from the shop when the incident occurred.

The family members of the deceased brothers staged protest demonstration outside the hospital and demanded justice. They also raised slogans against police.

Later, RPO Rawalpindi Malik Israr and other high ups reached the hospital and assured the heirs of the boys for justice.

The officials said two police personnel, involved in the firing, have been arrested while raids were being conducted to arrest the two others..

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and ordered City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi to submit a report of the incident.

The brothers have been described as residents of Sadiqabad. The family has stated that they would also hold protest in front of the parliament house on Sunday.
