VIENTIANE – China has expressed its desire to work with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to “dispel interference” in the disputed South China Sea.
This was stated by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang during the regional summit of Southeast Asian leaders in Vientiane, Laos.
He also said the situation in the South China Sea is moving towards a positive direction with joint efforts from China and other ASEAN members.
Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has stated that his country is seriously concerned about the South China Sea dispute.
He also urged ‘strict’ implementation of economic sanctions on North Korea to halt its rocket and nuclear tests.
Talking to reporters in Vientiane, he said North Korea will be further isolated from the international community if they continue their agenda.
Earlier this week, North Korea fired as many as three ballistic missiles and at least one of the medium-range missiles had landed in Japan.
