Muhammad Amir gets UK visa for upcoming Pakistan-England series

LAHORE (Staff Report) – Fast bowler Muhammad Amir has been granted UK visa for the upcoming series between Pakistan and England, a PCB official confirmed on Thursday.

Amir has been informed by British authorities that his visa has been approved. However, the Pakistani fast bowler has not received his passport back yet, the official added.

The 23-year old cricketer was named in Pakistan’s 17-member squad for the four-match Test series against England, starting on July 14.

Mohammad Amir was jailed for six months in the UK for bowling pre-planned no-balls in the Lords Test in 2010, which prosecutors termed as a conspiracy to defame legal bookmakers.

But after being issued the visa, Amir will now travel to the UK with the Pakistani cricket team on June 18 and will make a return to Lords, where his career came to a thudding halt during the first Test on July 14, where he was implicated for spot-fixing alonside Muhammad Asif and Salman Butt.

The young pacer is currently in Karachi on a personal visit, however, he has refused to confirm or deny the report, adding that he will only be able to comment one he gets his passport back.
