LAHORE – Amid their likely visit to Pakistan this month, top US officials will hold dialogue with Islamabad in an offer to remove Pakistan’s reservations on Trump’s new approach for the war-torn Afghanistan.
However, a well-informed source disclosed that the dialogue will be held on the ‘basis of equality’ and that Pakistan may stop the dialogue if the US authorities proceeded with their old mantra to ‘do more,’ the Daily Express reported here on Monday.
A source said the visits expect to expel the present strain between the two nations and the resulting talks will examine part of Pakistan in setting up peace in Afghanistan, Islamabad’s reservations on Trump’s Afghan policy, mutual cooperation for eradication of terrorism and the regional situation.
He said amid Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s current visit to New York, he held meetings with both the US President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence on the sidelines of UNGA session.
In these meetings, Washington guaranteed Islamabad that it will expel its reservations on the new Afghan approach through ‘dialogue.’ The US authorities additionally approved talks with Pakistan on all issues.
