All Punjab courts to close on September 17

court holiday punjab

LAHORE –  The Lahore High Court has announced that all courts in Punjab will be closed on September 17, 2024, in observance of Eid-i-Miladun Nabi. This decision follows a notification issued by the Registrar after receiving approval from Chief Justice Alia Neelum.

The closure applies to all civil and session courts across the province, including the Lahore High Court. The holiday is in celebration of Eid-i-Miladun Nabi, which marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

This decision aligns with the recent announcement by the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee on September 4, 2024. The committee confirmed that the moon for the Islamic month of Rabiul Awwal was not sighted, establishing that Rabiul Awwal will begin on September 6 and Eid-i-Miladun Nabi will be observed on September 17.

The 12th of Rabiul Awwal, also known as Mawlid al-Nabawi, holds great significance for Muslims worldwide. The day is celebrated with religious activities and festive events in honor of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth.
