Top TTP commander killed in Afghanistan

KABUL (Staff Report) – Senior  Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was killed in an encounter with Afghan forces in Paktia province of Afghanistan, said local media reports on Thursday.

As many as 15 TTP militants were also arrested by the Afghan authorities during raid.

According to reports the killed commander was identified as Ariyana, who happened to be a close aide of former TTP chief Bait Ullah Mehsood.

The Taliban faction had moved Afghanistan since Pakistan army started operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan.

The action comes on the very next day after Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani visited Islamabad to hold meetings with top Pakistani leadership and attend Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process conference.
