Customs nab woman with 20 smuggled iPhones at Islamabad Airport

ISLAMABAD – Customs officials at Islamabad International Airport on Tuesday night caught a woman smuggling 20 smartphones worth more than Rs3 million in Pakistan.

According to customs officials, the woman was traveling from a foreign airline and attempted to leave the green channel without having her luggage checked upon landing.

Suspecting the behaviour of the woman, customs officials searched the luggage of the woman and confiscated at least 20 iPhone XS and XS Max.

According to the customs official, the Sindh House protocol officer Abdul Rehman had come to the airport to receive the woman.

“A letter has been written to the department concerned regarding cancellation of Mr. Rahman’s protocol card,” the official added.

Islamabad Airport made headlines yesterday when a passenger boarding bridge collapsed; the incident happened when passengers were boarding an airplane of a foreign airline, using the bridge. However, the plane parked near the bridge remained safe.
