LONDON (Web Desk) – Britain’s Labour Party on Friday announced Sadiq Khan as candidate for upcoming London Mayor elections.
The politician, who has is Britisher with Pakistani origin, bagged more than 48,000 votes in run for nomination.
Following the announcement Khan took it to micro-blogging website Twitter to say thanks to his supporters. “I am deeply humbled that so many Londoners have put their faith in me today,” he tweeted.

Londoners will vote in May next year in an election for the position of London Mayor.
Sadiq Aman Khan has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tooting since 2005. In 2008 he was appointed Minister of State for Communities by Prime Minister Gordon Brown, making him the second-ever British Pakistani to serve in Her Majesty’s Government. He was later the Minister of State for Transport.
