India framing freedom struggle as terrorism: Hurriyat leader

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk/APP) – Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Geelani, has said that Indian secret agencies are trying to portray the Kashmiris’ ongoing peaceful freedom struggle as terrorism.

He said that the apple town had always been a strong fort of the Kashmir’s freedom struggle and now Indian secret agencies, under a planned manner, wanted to divide and weaken this fort.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, Syed Ali Geelani expressed concern and anguish over the threats and warnings issued to residents of Sopore in posters under the names of different organisations, KMS reported.

The veteran leader said that the people of Sopore had always been at the forefront of the resistance movement against the Dogra autocratic rule and after that these people played a key role in the plebiscite movement.

“Whether it is the figures of the sacrifices or the matter of the election boycott, Sopore had set an example and it has become a role model for the freedom lovers,” he added.

Geelani maintained that the area of Sopore had always been the matter of concern for the policy makers of India. “So this time they have hatched a deep conspiracy against this region and they want to terrify the people with the fake organisations and want to spread anarchy there,” he added.

He said that the people fighting for the Kashmir cause could not be a reason to snatch the livelihood of thousands of poor people. “That is why I stand justified in my stand that the threatening posters and killing of innocent people is a handiwork of Indian agencies,” he said, adding, “It is a plot aimed at punishing the people of Sopore for their pro-freedom stance.”
