Taking a suo moto notice last month, a three-judge bench headed by CJP Saqib Nisar sought reply from Sharif as he was the Punjab chief minister in 1985. The bench had maintained the then-CM had no right to transfer a shrine’s property to Dewan Ghulam Qutab.

The elder Sharif is already facing corruption cases since 2017 when he was ousted from the top office by Supreme Court.
In July this year, he was sentenced to ten years in prison by the accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir, in the Avenfield reference. However, the conviction was suspended by a two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court. Currently, he is on a bail.
