Two TTP terrorists killed in Karachi

KARACHI – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has killed two terrorists of a banned terrorist outfit in Karachi, local media reported.

According to CTD SSP Umar Shaid, forces on Monday raided an area of Manghopir following a tip off regarding the presence of terrorists.

As the raiding party reached the area, the terrorists opened firing and in response the CTD officials killed two of them while another managed to escape.

According to local media, the killed terrorist has been identified as Jabbar and Danial belonging to a fraction of TTP, Mufti Shakir Group, which has also been involved in Korangi and Abul Hassan Isphani Road attacks.

SSP Umar Shahid revealed that the terrorists wanted to target mosques and police officials, adding that 2 to 3 groups were involved in carrying out attacks on police officials.

He claimed that Ansar ul Sharia, a terror outfit was involved in killing of DSP traffic policeman in Azizabad.

According to the forensic report of two handguns recovered from possession of killed terrorists, the same pistols were also used in the murder of a sub-inspector around two years ago, he added.

Additional IG Sanaulla Abbasi said that the dead terrorists had earlier escaped on Saturday when security officials raided a seminary organized by terrorists’ mastermind, Mufti Shakir. The seminary was sealed on the same day.
