Sixth national population census also begins in Azad Kashmir

MUZAFFARABAD – The sixth national population census began in 10 selected districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) amid tight security arrangements.

Commissioner Muzaffarabad Division Muhammad Tuyyab inaugurated house enumeration by marking a number on the President House here on Wednesday. The inauguration function was also attended by Brigadier Akhtar, Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Ms Tehzeeb-un-Nisa, Deputy Inspector General Police Sardar Gulfraz, Additional Secretary Presidential Secretariat Ms Shazia and other officers.

Tuyyab said house enlistment was started simultaneously in all 10 districts of AJK in the first phase during which houses would be counted and forms seeking information about inhabitants would be distributed till March 25 and thereafter forms would be collected by April 15.

The Commissioner said Muzaffarabad district has been divided into 730 blocks, District Neelum in 171 blocks and District Jhelum Valley in 280 blocks and each block comprises on 200 top 250 houses where a three members team comprising a security personnel, a revenue official and an education department official would participate in the enumeration process.

He said army and civilian enumerators will collect data separately to avoid any shortcoming or mistake and appealed to the general public to cooperate with the teams and provide correct information and warned that any person found involved in providing wrong information would be liable to sentence up to six months imprisonment and Rs50,000 fine.-APP
