Here is why Dhaka streets turned red just after Eidul Azha

DHAKA (Web Desk) – Streets of Dhaka turned red on Tuesday after blood of slaughtered sacrificial animals got mixed with rain water leaving the roads of Bangladesh’s capital inundated.

The spots including Mohammadpur, Mirpur, Shyamoli, Uttara, Dhanmondi and Niketon were reddened creating harrowing scenes.

Residents took to social media platforms to share the pictures of red Dhaka soon after slaughtering the animals at multiple spots of the city.

Many said the incident showed how the city corporations had failed to keep drainage systems functional and had paid no attention to the matter before Eid, the Dhaka Tribune reported.

Although the intermittent showers pummeled the city but locals thronged to the mosques to offer prayer.

The administration received applause from citizens after the city was brought to its original form, the very next day.
