PESHAWAR – Last year’s Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) entrance saw massive cheating scandal which led to the suspension of results and this time the provincial authorities are taking stern measures to deal with the situation.
Reports in local media said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decided to shutdown mobile phone services during the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test MDCAT 2024 on September 22 to prevent cheating.
Peshawar local administration officials made the decision in meeting with Peshaawar DC, the registrar of Khyber Medical University, and senior police officers.
In the provincial capital, around nineteen thousand medical aspirants will sit for exam in Peshawar, where six examination centers will be set up. The MDCAT, a paper-based exam, is used for admissions to medical colleges both in Pakistan and internationally.
In this regards, mobile phone towers near exam centers will be shut down for couple of hours. PTA has been informed of this decision, while jammers will be installed in the exam halls to block mobile signals. Under these rules, no public gatherings will be allowed near the centers.
A traffic management plan is in place to ensure smooth traffic flow during the exam. All center will be supervised by an assigned assistant commissioner, and CCTVs will be installed inside and outside the halls to deter cheating.
