KARACHI (Staff Report) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Waseem Akhtar has offered Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to join hands for the well-being of Karachi.
While talking to the media at the airport after returning from London, MQM’s nominated Mayor for Karachi Waseem Akhtar said that he would serve all Karachiites without any discrimination.
The MQM leader asked PTI and JI to strengthen MQM’s hands for restoring powers of the local government in the best interest of the people of port city.
He said that he would talk to the Sindh government on the issue, adding that his party would move court and assemblies if the matter was not resolved.
He expressed hope that the Sindh government would empower the mayor in order to resolve problems of masses.
Talking about Rangers’ issue, he said that the party would side with democracy in case the issue hinders people’s rule in the country.
On the occasion, MQM’s Senior Deputy Convener Dr. Farooq Sattar said that local government and local institutions are the future of Pakistan.
